Often times a patient needs to connect with other departments for services within the Health Care Services Agency. Coleen is Director of the Alameda County Health Care Services Agency, which includes the Departments of Behavioral Health, Environmental Health, Public Health, and the Office of the Agency Director. She will inform us about all the agencies, which are helpful should we need to access more that one department.

                                                       Overview of Alameda County Health Care Services


Colleen Chawla will present an overview of the agency including their key initiatives and priorities. Learn about the different departments that comprise Alameda County Health Care Services Agency. The Health Care Services Agency is responsible for the County's behavioral health, indigent health, public health, and environmental health programs and services. The Agency's mission is to achieve health equity by working in partnership to provide high quality services, foster safe and healthy communities, and promote fair and inclusive opportunities for all residents.


Colleen joined the Alameda County Health Care Services Agency in December 2017 with more than 25 years of prior experience in various segments of the health sector, including in non-profit, corporate, and other local government settings. Just prior to joining Alameda County, Colleen served as the Deputy Director of the San Francisco Department of Public Health. A longtime Oakland resident, Colleen holds a Master of Public Administration/Health Services Administration from the University of San Francisco and a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Southern California.
